It says a lot when a new franchise opportunity as unique as PINCHO wins accolades from the outside world. We’re very proud of our most recent win among a field of competitors including 40 of the best restaurants from across the country at the prestigious 2019 South Beach (SOBE) Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash People’s Choice award. This was our second win at this event against competition like Shake Shack and celeb chefs Michael Mina and Chef Morimoto.

We first won the SOBE People’s Choice award in 2015. This year, the PINCHO burger that took top prize was the Pipo’s Choice, an all-natural beef patty topped with smoked gruyere, fried sweet plantain bits, grilled onions, applewood smoked bacon and guava ketchup between two buttery toasted brioche buns. In celebration, we featured it in all of our locations for the week following our win. It’s back as our monthly special in April and is also featured exclusively at our location in Marlins Park throughout the 2019 baseball season.

Guava ketchup, smoked gruyere, grilled onions and bits of sweet plantain gave PINCHO’s “The Pipo’s Choice Burger” a flavor profile so distinctive it took the best burger prize at one of the country’s most prestigious food festivals.

Our innovative menu and distinct flavors are so unique, PINCHO easily stands apart from other new franchise concepts. Yes, we sell burgers — culinary-driven burgers good enough to win the SOBE Food & Wine Fest competition. We’re very pleased when folks tell us our burgers are better than leading chains in the “better burger” category. But burgers are only part of our story — they account for just over 30% of our sales. Our menu includes other popular Latin American food like pinchos, the grilled meat skewers for which we’re named, as well as wraps, rice bowls and salads, and great sides like black beans, tostones and sweet potato tots.

Somewhere between better burgers, Latin American food and elegant fast-casual, we’ve carved out a space in food franchising that is unlike any other. No one does it quite like PINCHO, and our biggest competition — indeed, we like to say our only competition — is last year’s sales.

What’s next for PINCHO

Our boutique burger and Latin American food chain has grown to 11 restaurants in the greater Miami area, and we are looking for just the right investors to help us grow further. We’re not running a race to grow exponentially larger; we’re looking for a good culture fit in our franchisees, people who have the passion for our food and our mission as well as the entrepreneurial experience to help us grow while maintaining the integrity of our core concept. Just as our menu is about quality, so is our growth strategy.

“Our ideal franchisee is an experienced multi-unit operator with sufficient capital and expertise to build three to five restaurants in the next three to five years,” says President and CEO Jayson Tipp. “If anybody’s been looking at the better burger category and wondering whether it’s too late to really get into BurgerFi or Smashburger, they should take a look at Pincho. We’ve got something they would like.”
